View all reviewsValorant is a new 5v5 multiplayer shooter game by Riot Studios, the League of Legends creators. It combines tight gameplay mechanics based on precise shooting with a skill-based hero system.
Graphics 4/5
The visual style is usually the first thing you notice when playing a new game, and Valorant doesn’t seem to make a remarkable first impression. Its visuals can be described as a bit more cartoonish rendition of Counter-Strike, and the overall color scheme feels somewhat bland, with pastel colors dominating. However, the developers claim that such an approach to graphics has been chosen on purpose as this should make the game available even to players with relatively weak hardware.
Gameplay 5/5
Valorant apk features a combination of gameplay mechanics that feels unlikely at first. What you get is tactical shooter basics with precise aiming and smart map design – but with a roster of unique heroes with their own powerful abilities instead of faceless agents. However, that seems to work just fine, and the abilities like magic arrows or autonomous drones create an entirely new dimension for the Valorant game. While the hero powers are not yet perfectly balanced, they already show their potential for creating new tactics and complementing each other.
Controls 4.5/5
Controls are one of the most important features for every tactical shooter, and the latest Valorant version seems to have made them really comfortable. Shooting is really precise, so there’s a lot of space to expand your skill, and all of your special abilities are almost at hand, too. While it’s still unknown whether you’ll be able to play Valorant online on consoles, we’re pretty sure that controllers will feel equally convenient since Riot Games definitely knows how to tune them.
Replay Value 4.5/5
Like many other multiplayer shooters, Valorant is extremely replayable. It takes many rounds to learn a map, and it feels completely different with every hero, so you have to learn them all, too – or concentrate on one of them and then invest a hundred hours into mastering your favorite agent.
Conclusion
While it still has its flaws, Valorant is obviously going to become an important milestone for the FPS genre, bringing old-school tactical shooters and Overwatch-like hero shooters much closer together.
